Blood Bands
One of the top National Patient Safety Goals established by the Joint Commission for 2011 is to eliminate transfusion errors related to patient identification.
“Before initiating a blood or blood component transfusion, the patient is objectively matched to the blood or blood component during a two-person bedside or chair-side verification process. At least two unique identifiers are used in the process, and it is conducted after the blood or blood component that matches the order has been issued or dispensed.”
St. John Conf-ID-ent™ blood bands are specifically designed for Inpatient use to protect your patients and hospital from potentially fatal errors. They provide a unique, randomly assigned patient identification number to ensure that blood samples are correctly identified, and transfusions are administered to the right patient. Conf-ID-ent™ blood bands from St. John, featuring 24 peel and stick labels, are ideal for your facility’s type and cross match procedures, establishing a positive link between the patient, the sample drawn, the crossed-matched units and any related paperwork.
The St. John Conf-ID-ent™ Blood Card System is specifically designed for Outpatient use to protect your patients and hospital from potentially fatal errors. The blood card includes 18 labels and 1 blood band insert card, each pre-numbered with a unique alphanumeric identifier creating a positive link between the patient, the sample drawn, the cross-matched units and any related paperwork. The St. John Conf-ID-ent™ Blood Card System is available as a set or sold separately.
The St. John Companies offers Conf-ID-ent™ blood bands for Inpatient use, the Conf-ID-ent™ Blood Card System for Outpatient use, and Bio-logics blood bands for bedside point-of-care. Bio-logics blood bands allow you to create labels on demand at bedside from the patient's identification wristband.
