Since the 1980’s hundreds of hospitals have used thermal wristbands to quickly and effectively identify patients. With their superior print images and the greatest flexibility in the barcodes used, hospitals find many options to choose from when deciding on a thermal band. It’s important to consider the features you want and need when making your selection.
Simple to implement – dedicated thermal printers are placed throughout the facility wherever wristbands are to be created. Their compact size make these thermal printers ideal for areas with space limitations such as nursing stations. Rolls of wristbands are easily loaded into the printers and are created on-demand. St. John provides a variety of Direct Thermal wristbands that enable you to achieve excellent print quality without the use of a ribbon.
Adhesive or clasp closure – when choosing your wristband, you can select either an adhesive or clasp closure. Some facilities like the adhesive closure bands since they are easy to use and do not require a separate clasp. Those locations preferring a more permanent closure may opt for a band with a secondary clasp that is secured through pre-punched holes. St. John’s unique wristband clasps are color-coded and/or embossed to enable hospitals to implement individual or multiple color coded alerts and warnings into a single wristband.
Durability – thermal wristbands are created using multiple laminates to enhance strength and provide resistance to tearing and environmental conditions. Thermal bands provide images that are particularly durable and long-lasting.
Flexibility – thermal wristbands are available in multiple sizes and colors. Thermal wristbands support text, linear, 2D and Aztec barcodes, photos and graphics.
